These ducks have been waddling around my yard the past couple of weeks, most likely looking for that perfect spot to build a nest. Last year there was a nest with five eggs very close to my front door. The crows found the eggs just what they needed for a tasty dinner and the eggs were gone in three days. :-( I hope they're more successful this year. Really. It's a tough neighborhood!
offer them a nest-box

Hmmm...I don't know, maybe it would work for the crows but I wonder about the racoons and opossums...
ReplyDeleteGosh !
ReplyDeleteWhat a dilemma ...
I know and if the eggs could hatch, the chicks would also need a guard!!
ReplyDeleteThe mallard's family is numerous, is it not ?
ReplyDeleteIn my neighborhood there seem to be a lot less mallards than a few years ago. But there are too many geese which want to stay all year!
