Painting at Ghent Antiques

Yesterday and today I was painting at an antique store and showing some of my work - like a pop-up show! It was fun to interact with the customers and get out of the studio for a bit. It's in a busy neighborhood called Ghent near my studio in Norfolk, Virginia so I saw lots of people coming and going. And strolling by! The store wants to have artists working in the store to make it more interesting for the customers. It seems like a very good idea and a good place for my etchings!

Candlelight

This is part of a felt Christmas tree skirt that I made for my parents years ago. When I saw it in this light I thought - interesting affect?

Merry Christmas

From many years past, a little watercolor I thought suitable for a Christmas card. It may be a bit odd but I have some affection for it. It was one of my first paintings! So, Merry Christmas and may the new year be full of happy times and art viewing!

Ubuhle Women Art Exhibit Features Tons of Beautiful Beads

The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia is hosting an exhibit of work by the Ubuhle Collective of African women. The works are made from tiny Czech glass beads sewn onto black fabric and are very impressive. Much time and patience is needed to make them! Here's one of my favorites. I think it's about 5' x 3'. I love the design!

Lilypad Linocut

This is a miniature linocut that I made a few years ago. I made a visit to the Japanese garden at our local botanical garden(which is quite nice!) and was inspired by the beautiful flowers and lilypad shapes. I'd love to make a larger one. Maybe some day!
